Asteroids was a popular arcade game through out the United Kingdom, United States & Japan during the late 70s & early 80s. The game was designed by Atari and was first released on the 22nd in 1978 in Japan. It was the third arcade game to be released following Pong & Space Invaders. It made the highest amount of revenue in arcades during the 80s, but however Space Invaders has since surpassed it. Asteroids is addictive because of its simple graphics.
